The central focus on individual freedom does accept the tradeoff of a society that has more inequality and slower policy action on many big issues. <br /><br />All idealogies have similar issues to these, and that's why I don't put trust completely in one. I am glad we have no unified idealogy. We have some factions pushing for greater individual freedom, others pursuing greater equality, etc. The result is a mish mash of policies that promote different goals, and as a whole, our policies often are contradictory and conflict with one another. While this is bad for the idealogues and typically undermines any dramatic and tranformative action in promoting and achieving one goal (like near complete freedom or near equality), I think that our system has the benefit of producing a government that balances conflicting goals and accepts moderate movement that places some value on different goals, rather than all value on one goal.<br /><br />I expect the Dems can have a field day with Rand Paul and his views. Even though there is no chance he would or could repeal the Civil Rights Act or actually bring about the society libertarians desire, his views are extreme and open for attack.Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08916738915298327641noreply@blogger.com
