Now the question about a right to exist is interesting because nobody's ever asked me whether or not I believe Palestine has a right to exist. Israel exists. The question is whether or not we want a politics where our money is sent over to Israel to do genocide and apartheid, instead of investing in our own kids.
Hunt then properly responds "you say it exists. But does it have a right to?" The guest replies
I didn't say that. I just said the question of Israel's existence is not a question. I'm not going to play the gotcha game about whether or not it has a right to exist.
The United Nations Resolution 181 in 1947 that established the nation of Israel. It doesn't seem as if asking whether that country exists is a "gotcha game." El-Sayed then adds "the question is ultimately whether or not we want a politics that dignifies-
Realizing that the candidate is avoiding the question, Hunt wisely cuts him off, noting "you're not going to play the gotcha game but you're not going to say you think Israel has a right to exist." He replies"the question, Katie, we all ought to ask is does everybody have equal rights to self-determination?"

Well, no, that isn't the question he should have been asked because we know that he believes there should be a Palestinian state and wants to end all offensive and defensive aid to Israel. And he never misses an opportunity, even when there is no opportunity, to attack AIPAC, as he did in this interview when he stated "AIPAC has become a big issue in this election because "AIPAC has already spent $30 million in this race."
Those numbers are very likely grossly inflated because on June 9, we learned
According to campaign filings, the United Democracy Project (UDP), the super PAC affiliated with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), has reserved approximately $2.33 million in television and digital advertising across Michigan to boost Stevens' Senate campaign.
Relatively little is said about donors to el-Sayed. However, we do know that his campaign "has accepted donations from the Dearborn Heights-based Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi, who is known for chanting 'death to America.'" He was "honored" to accept an endorsement from the Arab American Political Action Committee, whose leader in 2022 urged Arabs to fight against Israel with "stones," "guns," or "their hands" and who has reccommended Israel Jews be sent "back to Poland." Most famously el-Sayed has campaigned with Hasan Piker, the streamer who has declared Hamas to be "a thousand times better than" Israel.
Of course, that lie is nothing compared to the standard fib of the Israel-hating far left, which never fails to accuse Israel of genocide and apartheid, as el-Sayed did in this interview. Of course they do, because no interviewer wants to offend the guest by noting that Arabs in Israel have more rights than in most Muslim nations in the Middle East and that Israel, reputed to be a nuclear power, could easily annihilate Gazans if it chose to do so. It's an updated, more diplomatic version of the blood libel, which is repeated ad nauseum.
Nonetheless I find the most intriguing portion of el-Sayed's strategy to be his statement "Israel exists." This is reminiscent of those Republicans who, when asked the past few years whether Joe Biden won the 2020 election, respond "He is President." Fortunately, the interviewer typically recognizes this as a dodge and asks the Republican again- after which, he or she dodges the question again. (This is what is typically called a "moderate" Republican.)
Of course, Israel exists. But there is a big and growing, disturbing conroversy about the form its existence should take in the future, Much of it is prompted by anti-semitism, much of it not.
Were there a public argument in the Democratic Party about race and a few individuals were as antagonistic toward blacks as some now are toward Jews, Democrats would turn against the bigots within- and rightfully so. Yet, some far-left "progressive" Democrats rail against Israel, make false accusations against it, and lump every Israeli Jew in with the nation's current government.
That should be unacceptable, and eventually Democrats will have to deal with it.
